Our Visitor Lloyd

We are dog sitting Lloyd this Labor Day weekend. He is a handsome Cock-a-Poo puppy. He has definitely upped the energy in the house a bit giving Rose a run for her money. She was none too pleased to have a visitor for the first 20 minutes but then she warmed up to the fur ball. They are best playmates now and I have never seen her so tired. Finally, she has been waiting almost two years for a buddy to play with like this. Even Bubba is getting in on the action. Those anti-inflammatory pills are really helping him out. He is really trying to keep up with these two youngsters. I think Rose and Bubba will miss their friend when he leaves tomorrow.

Bubba's Trip to the Vet

Bubba LOVES to go places. As soon as his collar is on, he knows that he is taking a trip somewhere. It doesn't matter where, to the groomer, to the mountain house or even to the vet. He is all about getting out of the house and riding in the car. If you have ever seen him, he is pretty docile and slow but once he knows he is going somewhere or even if he decides he wants to go somewhere, hold on to something sturdy when you open the door because all 70 lbs of him is going to bulldoze you over to get out the door. You are not leaving him behind.
Today, he had to go to the vet. He is just not losing any weight with the diet dog food and minimal treats. He is up to 70.1 lbs now!! He is supposed to losing and he has gained 3 lbs this year! He also has LP in both hind legs that this extra weight is not helping at all. So I wanted the vet to do a thyroid test to rule out any thyroid issues and then we'll go from there. Poor guy. He also had to have routine shots, which he took like a champ and got some heartworm meds. The other reason for the visit is that the poor guy has been "scooching" on our carpet or some fat dog's version of scooching. He doesn't do it very well, but I know what he is trying to do. So he had that little itch taken care of today too. Almost $500 later, we were out the door. At least he feels better. I felt like I had just been mugged.
The vet said that we need to keep an eye on his back legs for future LP surgery. Yikes - he better lose weight fast! Each leg is about $1,600! We'll keep an eye on him and I'll update his weight loss progress. I would like him to be about 64 lbs so he needs to lose 6 lbs - I think he can do it!!!
Bubba also turned 5 this summer! Happy Birthday Big Boy!

Back from the shore

We're back from Mom-mom and Pop-pop's house on the bay! We had such a good time visiting. The weather was beautiful all weekend for the kids to play on the beach. I preferred just to sit on the back porch and watch the boats and relax. The sunset from the porch was amazing! Jack and the kids fished and crabbed and had a good time doing that. Jack even caught an eel. You'll never catch me jumping in the water to cool off!!
I got to play around with my camera and try some different settings for my pictures. Some turned out great and some not so great but I think that I learned a little bit from practicing.
Jack had a few blasts from the past when an old childhood wet suit popped up and an old polaroid of him posing in the most peculiar outfit came out. He still fits into the wet suit (well almost).
The dogs were excited that we were home and I was so glad to see them. I missed them all weekend. I think now that our summer travels are over that we can get back to a normal routine. I am glad in a way so that I can get into this semester and hopefully it will be over before I know it. I am not ready for all the stress and frustration to begin all over again.

Rose is sick

We're headed to the shore for one last weekend away before fall semester of school starts. I'll be trying not to think about how crazy things are going to get in just a couple weeks.
Rose is sick. She is leaving me little gross presents all over the house (not the hard kind you can pick right up). I think it is all the steak she ate at the mountain house last weekend. So I have had the spot bot out since 7:30 AM cleaning my carpets. Poor thing. She is staying with Aunt BJ and Avah this weekend so hopefully she can rest up and feel better.
Lots of great news from my friends this week. Colleen and Joe found out they are expecting another little baby! Danny is going to be a big brother. I was so happy to hear that and that it was such a surprise! I can't wait to meet the new little Formica!
Heather also informed me this week that she is planning on moving back home from San Diego around the holiday's! I was so excited to hear that. I sure did miss her while she was out there.
Well, I'll post some pictures from the shore but certainly not me in a swimsuit unless I can figure out the airbrushing tool on photoshop. Everyone have a good weekend!

My first blog

I figured that it is time to set up a blog to keep family and friends updated and post some of my favorite pictures. Not sure how good I'll be at this but we'll try. We'll see how it goes.

Summer is going fast for Jack and I. We have been busy almost every weekend with fun weddings, travels to see family and travels to Lake Wallenpaupack. The dogs, Bubba and Rose, came with us everywhere and they love to travel. They wouldn't allow us to leave them home. We had to get Bubba a life jacket for up at the mountains because he got too close to the edge of the dock barking at the boats and wave runners. Rose jumped in after some ducks but she can swim good. Bubs would sink to the bottom.

Well, I will see how this post goes and get my page set up all nice so I can post some pictures and some more information.
