My Dad Retired!

The day has finally come!! The best math teacher decided to hang up the chalk (do they still use chalk?) yesterday. My dad has been waiting for this day for years and it came and went. I am very happy for him and this new chapter of his life he is starting. Cheers to hard work. We are all very very proud.

Duke's 3 Months Old!

Time goes fast! It's hard to believe the little guy is 3 months old today! It's even harder to believe that my nephew, Loucky, is 8 years old today!!! Happy Birthday!

Birthday Weekend!

Saturday was Jack's birthday. Some family and friends came over to help celebrate and I am pretty sure he had a nice time. The day started with a big breakfast and then some March madness on t.v. and ended with a party in honor of Duke's Daddy. I don't think there is any question that Duke loves his "Dah-Dee".

Sunday, we went over and celebrated Little Loucky's 8th birthday. He went out the night before with his friends and parents to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid. He is growing up so fast - I can't believe he is 8 years old!!! He also just got back from Florida with Mom-Mom. His actual birthday is on the 24th of March - same day Duke turns 3 months old!

Duke was hanging out with Mom-Mom Horgan at Loucky's party. We had a bit of a fit when we first arrived because I may have forgotten to feed him before we left. He let me know about it right away and in front of a live audience at that. I won't do that again. I think he was complaining to his Mom-Mom about me. Sorry Duke, lesson learned.

A Bit of Spring

Today's weather made me want to get outside, away from the computer and couch, and go for a nice long walk in the park with the baby - or just around the driveway a couple times.

Aunt B came over to visit this morning and since the sun was out and it was nice and warm outside, we decided to strap Duke into the BOB stroller (LOVE IT!) and see how he liked strolling around for a bit. It looked like he enjoyed it. He's a funny little boy - his facial expressions are not easy to read unless he really thinks I am a lunatic all the time.

It's a whole new world out there for him. We haven't spent much time outside because of the freezing cold temperatures and him being so young. Hopefully those days are behind us and he can start seeing the world beyond our front door.

And we decided (I decided) to just embrace the whole cowboy thing. I guess with the name "John Wayne" it's inevitable that you are going to get themed gifts so if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Besides, he is adorable in a cowboy hat.

Primo (Cookie) Racchini 1912 - 2010

Cookie with his ten grandchildren - Christmas 2007

Grandpa Racchini was a great, strong and loving man. He was a man of few words but a hard working man who loved and lived for his family. He will be greatly missed by his four children, ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren (one on the way). His farmhouse on the hill was filled to the roof during Christmas with his family each year. RIP Grandpa - we love ya.
